I am a psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker who works in private practice in Durham. I currently provide individual and couple therapy to adults and young adults in the Triangle area.
I have specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and in sexual health and sexuality concerns. I continue to focus my continuing education efforts on relationship and sexuality concerns. I make sure to train in newer, more specific therapies with regularity. I continue to train in Somatic Psychotherapies (Sensorimotor Psychotherapy among others) as well as Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). And I am an active member of a long-standing peer supervision group that works to support and enhance the skill and character of the therapist; we are committed to examining our own contributions to the therapeutic process and relationship. |
In previous work environments, I provided counseling to students through individual, couple and group therapy at Duke University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and counseled survivors of sexual trauma and/or relationship violence at the Durham Crisis Response Center. I am trained as a yoga instructor, and I incorporate mindfulness skills and body-oriented awareness into my psychotherapy practice.
I hold a Master of Social Work degree from Smith College School for Social Work in Massachusetts and a Bachelor’s of the Arts in English, Speech and Language from Mary Washington College in Virginia (now the University of Mary Washington). |
